The Body in Stress
Imagine the fascial network is like a web, in which things can get caught. Things we are not able to process for some reason, like worry, a secret, or a loss may be held in the tissues, expressed as a physical reality that may lead to chronic pain or inexplicable symptoms.
The mind/body connection works both ways: An emotionally stressed body provides a less predictable vehicle for our physical work in the world. And a physically stressed body offers a less supple environment for handling everyday (or more substantial) emotional experiences.
SomatoEmotional Release — one of the areas of study in CranioSacral Therapy — simply works with non-conscious understandings that bubble up into consciousness when we receive CST.
I encourage you to be in the present while the body-mind tells its story, and I promise to do the same.
